Freedom Quest is a not-for-profit, internet-based organization dedicated to the provision of emotional support and advocacy for those suffering from mental illness and in particular, those from low socioeconomic backgrounds. The organization is primarily staffed by volunteers, many of whom are family members or friends of individuals struggling with severe mental illnesses including schizophrenia, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. As such, many Freedom Quest volunteers have first-hand knowledge of the often devastating impact that untreated mental illness can have upon ones personal well-being and interpersonal relationships.
Founded in 2001, Freedom Quest seeks to provide free and equitable services for people with severe mental illnesses. Working on the national, state, and local levels, Freedom Quest seeks to provide free counseling services as well as psycho-education about mental illness and recent psycho pharmacological advances via the internet. Freedom Quest also strives to offer a comprehensive searchable database of the mental health resources that are available throughout the nation. Finally, Freedom Quest is committed to seeking increased funding for mental health research and to advocating for adequate health insurance, housing, rehabilitation, and employment for individuals diagnosed with severe and chronic psychological or psychiatric illnesses.
Freedom Quest, Inc. is a 501C(3) tax-exempt, public charity
